First Quarter Kansas Foreclosure Activity Significantly Higher Than Prior Year

The article published in the April 19, 2009 edition of the Wichita Business Journal highlighted the continued volatility of mortgage foreclosure activity in Kansas.

Nationwide, one in every 159 U.S. homes was in foreclosure during the first quarter, RealtyTrac reported. The number of U.S. homes in foreclosure during the quarter, 803,489, was up 9 percent from the previous quarter and 24 percent from the first quarter of 2008.

In Kansas, foreclosure activity in March, 2009, was lower than the previous month, but 18.9% higher than in March, 2008.
